There is nothing worse than getting a rock put through your expensive factory or upgraded lighting components- several companies make light protection films, and they are not hard to install. The peace of mind is worth the price and ease of installation. While this mod page was written using the fog lamps, it can be used on any lamp- I did the headlamps just after the fogs the day I wrote this page. Please feel free to email with any questions. Comments are always welcome.

The first thing you will want to do is clean your lamps thoroughly- from the looks of my front bumper, you can see I had a lot of work to do to prepare. Thank you New England winters. Clean several times with glass cleaner, using clean paper towels each time- a razor may help with stubborn grime. Once clean, use a lint-free towel to remove any trace of dust.

Next, spray down the lamp with a 50/50 solution of water and alcohol- this will allow you to slide and position the headlamp film into the proper location, and help you prevent air pockets.

Next, peel back a portion of the film and stick it to the lamp you are working on. Carefully peel and stick the film down, making sure not to touch the backing. Fingerprints will become permanent if you touch the sticky side. Slide the film into the proper location. Turn your lamps on, as the heat will help with the next step.

Next, use a squeegee (you can find these in auto parts stores near the tint) to press from the center to the edges of the film. You are trying to squeeze the water/alcohol solution out and stick the film to the lens.

The finished project- you can barely make out the edge of the film.
